These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of SkillConnect ("SkillConnect", "we", "us", "our"),
including the website at skillconnect.com.ng (the "Platform"). By creating an account, browsing, or using the Platform,
you agree to these Terms.
Important: SkillConnect is a marketplace that helps customers find independent professionals ("Pros") and helps Pros get discovered.
We are not a party to contracts between customers and Pros. Your use of the Platform is at your own risk.
1) Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction) to create an account and use the Platform.
2) Accounts & Security
- You agree to provide accurate information and to keep it up to date.
- You are responsible for all activity under your account and for keeping your login details secure.
- We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or applicable laws.
3) What We Collect (Email Only for This Step)
For registration and login, SkillConnect collects your email address so we can uniquely identify your account and separate user logins.
You may also choose to provide additional profile information (such as your name, phone number, skill/profession, and location) to use Platform features.
Passwords are handled by our authentication provider and are not viewable by SkillConnect as plain text.
4) Email Communications (Updates & Promotions)
By creating an account, you agree that we may send you emails about your account, Platform updates, important notices, what’s happening on
skillconnect.com.ng, and promotional or marketing messages. You can opt out of marketing emails at any time by using an unsubscribe link (when provided)
or by contacting support@skillconnect.com.ng. Account/security emails may still be sent when necessary.
5) Platform Rules
- Do not use the Platform for illegal, fraudulent, abusive, or harmful activity.
- Do not post misleading information, impersonate others, or misrepresent qualifications.
- Do not attempt to disrupt, hack, or reverse engineer the Platform.
- Customers and Pros must communicate and transact responsibly and safely.
6) Safety & Due Diligence
SkillConnect does not guarantee the identity, quality, licensing, insurance, or suitability of any Pro or customer.
You are responsible for vetting, negotiating, and verifying all information, and for taking appropriate safety precautions.
7) Payments, Fees & Refunds
Some features may require payment (including activation or subscription). Any prices, billing frequency, and feature access will be shown to you before payment.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, payments are non-refundable unless we explicitly state otherwise or applicable law requires a refund.
8) Content & License
You retain ownership of content you submit (such as profile details and images). You grant SkillConnect a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license
to host, store, reproduce, display, and distribute your content on the Platform for the purpose of operating and promoting the Platform.
9) Intellectual Property
The Platform, branding, and all related intellectual property belong to SkillConnect and its licensors. You may not copy, modify, or distribute our materials
without permission.
10) Disclaimers
The Platform is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties
(express, implied, and statutory), including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and that the Platform will be uninterrupted,
secure, error-free, or free of harmful components.
11) Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, SkillConnect will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages,
or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or reputation, arising out of or related to your use of the Platform, interactions between customers and Pros,
or any services performed by Pros.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, SkillConnect’s total liability for any claim will not exceed the amount you paid to SkillConnect in the
three (3) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim (or ₦0 if you paid nothing).
12) Indemnity
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless SkillConnect, its owners, employees, contractors, and partners from any claims, damages, liabilities,
costs, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the Platform, your content, your violation of these Terms, or your interactions with other users.
13) Dispute Resolution
Before filing a claim, you agree to contact us at support@skillconnect.com.ng and attempt to resolve disputes informally within 30 days.
Where permitted by law, disputes will be resolved by binding arbitration in Lagos, Nigeria, and you waive any right to participate in a class action.
14) Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
15) Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will post the updated Terms on the Platform and update the effective date above.
Your continued use of the Platform after changes become effective means you accept the updated Terms.
